Bloomsburg Downs Mansfield in Women's Basketball

 BLOOMSBURG - Bloomsburg University's Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/Wyoming Valley West) scored a team-high 13 points, including the 1000th point of her career, to lead the Huskies to a 53-50 win over Mansfield University Wednesday night.
The win was the 21st straight for the Huskies over the Mountaineers at Bloomsburg's Nelson Field House.
The Huskies, 4-14, 1-3 PSAC East, and Mounties, went back and forth in the opening half with five ties and four lead changes before Bloomsburg went into the break leading 26-24.
In the second half the Huskies scored the opening basket of the second half to take a 28-24 lead, then went scoreless for the next seven minutes while the Mounties rallied and went in front 35-28. The Huskies' Kait Urban (Johnstown/Westmont) finally broke the scoring drought with a three-pointer.
The Huskies would later rally and go in front by eight 48-40 with 5:58 left in the game. Kauczka scored five points, including her 1000th, in the 20-5 run with Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) getting four points.
Late in the game, with Bloomsburg in front 51-47 with 35 seconds to play, the Mounties Alicia Espigh hit a three to make it 51-50 with 13 seconds left. On the ensuing inbounds play, Kelly Burkhart (Sayre/Athens) was fouled and gave the Huskies a three-point lead after hitting both free throws. Mansfield then missed a three-pointer to tie and the Huskies picked up the win.
Kauczka scored 13 points and had 10 rebounds, while Urban added 10 points. Alison Tagliaferri led Mansfield with 14 points.
Bloomsburg is idle till Feb. 1st when it plays at West Chester at 6 p.m.
